RELATIONAL VIRTUA

Created as part of my Masters degree in Computational Art at Goldsmiths

This project was conceived to playfully explore the connections and interactions between individuals. It uses a stereo vision camera and machine learning to detect and track large amounts of skeletal data, ultimately using 3D key-points to simulate a virtual representation of bodies inside a space.

I wanted to explore the idea of creating artwork in which visitors are the subject, positioning myself somewhere between Experiential and Relational art.

Traditionally, artists would usually select a subject that they would paint, immortalising the focal topic in a static manner. This methodology of artistic practice has existed for millennia, but with the advent of modern technology, I want to delve into how we can use computational processes to create a different form of interaction.
